Upon returning to the United States after an extended tour abroad, Theodore Roosevelt is welcomed with elaborate festivities in New York City on June 18, 1910. There are views of Roosevelt and Cornelius Vanderbilt, the chairman of the welcoming committee, walking toward the Battery Park platform, with photographers lining their approach. Mayor William J.
