Fifteen-year-old Giovanni and his family move from southern Italy to Tuscany after his father’s death in WWII. He inherits Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy and struggles to understand it. His older brother tells him about a library in an old castle, where Giovanni finds answers and a mentor who becomes his guide to knowledge.
