A 16-year-old boy named Zong returns to his hometown to attend his grandfather's funeral. Having grown up in a big city, Zong does not understand the etiquette of traditional Chinese funerals and argued with his father. That night, he falls asleep beside the coffin and has a dream, where he bids farewell to his grandfather.
