Nguyễn Quang Sáng (January 12, 1932 – February 13, 2014) was a Vietnamese writer and screenwriter who won the second Ho Chi Minh Prize for Literature and Arts in 2000. He was born in My Luong commune (now My Luong town), Cho Moi district, An Giang province. During the Indochina War and the Vietnam War, he worked as the editor and writer of literary and culture divisions in the armed forces. After April 30, 1975, he returned to Ho Chi Minh City and became the General Secretary (later renamed President) of the city's Writers' Association during its first three terms. Nguyễn Quang Sáng's works, ranging from short stories to novels and screenplays, are always imbued with the rhythm of life in South Vietnam, taking the setting of the nation during the two wars and also after 1975. Notable works include: Con chim vàng, Đất lửa, Chiếc lược ngà, Mùa gió chướng, Người con đi xa, Cánh đồng hoang…
