Dōten Fukao (given name: Michinori Fukao) was a scenario writer. He served as a director of the Japan Scenario Writers Association, among others, and won the Kinema Junpo Screenplay Award in 1968 for the film "Death by Hanging", which he co-wrote with Nagisa Oshima and others. Fukao graduated from Waseda University's School of Literature in 1961. He went on to join Toei and worked at the Kyoto Studio. He wrote screenplays, plays, radio dramas, etc. while assistant director. There are also a number of published screenplay collections consisting of his unfilmed scenarios.
