Mads K. Baekkevold is an interdisciplinary Norwegian filmmaker with a body of work spanning horror, documentaries, animation, commercials, and more. His career began in Singapore, where he spent a decade working in the Southeast Asian film industry. He's currently based in the Pacific Northwest, working as a freelance director, editor, and writer. In addition to his work as a Cannes Lions-awarded commercial director, Mads has undertaken an eclectic mix of international projects, such as Still Space (a documentary on the modern art scene in Macau), his award-winning short film Chamber of Ox (an anthology segment exploring the concept of hell in Buddhism), a series of four short pan-Asian horror films for Universal Studios - among others. His debut feature The Chef & The Daruma premiered at the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF) in 2024, where it won the Insights Audience Award. The film is currently screening at festivals around the world.
