
Ruth Rose (January 16, 1896-June 8, 1978) was an American screenwriter known for various adventure films produced by RKO Radio Pictures, including King Kong (1933), Son of Kong (1933), She (1935) and Mighty Joe Young (1949). A scientific researcher and writer before her turn to movies, she met her future husband, director Ernest B. Schoedsack, while on expedition through the Galapagos Islands in 1925; the couple would later marry in 1926 and collaborate on five total films during their time in Hollywood, remaining together until Rose's death at the age of 82 in 1978.
