Dominique DuVernay was born on "4/20" in New Orleans, La. She is most noted for her role as Brittany on the Emmy nominated ALLBLK series "A House Divided." In 2020 she won a HAPA award for best supporting actress in a digital series for this role. One of the biggest questions that are always raised regarding Dominique is what her ethnic background is. This New Orleans native is authentically Creole with a splash of Latina. She is African American, Nicaraguan & French. Dominique and her younger sister were raised by a single mother and between the ages of 7 and 15 she and her family moved back and forth between New Orleans and the Bay Area until they settled back home in New Orleans for good. Dominique was no military brat but had her fair share of relocating growing up. She attended a whopping total of 23 schools from kindergarten through 12th grade in both Louisiana and California. Her unique childhood which also comprised of sometimes living in battered women and homeless shelters on occasion contributed to her fascination with various kinds of people, characters, accents, languages, anything that had to do with communication and varying personalities and as a child she would create different characters, give them all different accents, and taught herself a great deal of Spanish. She was a shy child but her mother, knowing her hidden talents and interests nudged her sign up for a role in the church play at the age of 14 and that's were she got bit by the acting bug. Upon graduating high school she began her full pursuit of acting and has never looked back. Dominique has had appearances in films such as the RZA's "Cut Throat City" and 50 Cent's "Freelancers" as well as shows such as "The Game," "Claws," and so much more. She is also a mother of two beautiful daughters and gives full to glory to God for all of her success on and off screen and looks forward to her continued blessings and flourishing career. - IMDb mini biography by: Ciearra Taylor
