Graduated in performing arts at the School of Communication and Arts at the University of São Paulo, his first work was in 1973, participating in the two feature films Anjo Loiro and A Virgem; however, it was in the film Act of Violence, in which he played a prisoner who dismembered women, which earned him the Air France Award for Best Actor.
