Born in 1969, Paulo Biscaia Filho is a Brazilian theatre and film director. He graduated as a Theatre Director and holds an M.A. in Drama and Theatre Studies from Royal Holloway, University of London, where he developed a study on the horror of the Grand Guignol theatre. He also earned a Ph.D. in History from the Federal University of Paraná. He is a professor in the Performing Arts and Film programs at the State University of Paraná (UNESPAR). He is also the founder and artistic director of Vigor Mortis, a stage and video production company established in southern Brazil. His feature film "Morgue Story" (2009) is an adaptation of his own play and marks his directorial debut after several experimental shorts. His filmography also includes the feature films "Nervo Craniano Zero" (2012) and "Virgin Cheerleaders in Chains" (2018), the episodic short film "Nevermore - Três Pesadelos e Um Delírio de Edgar Allan Poe", and the web series "A Macabra Biblioteca do Dr. Lucchetti" (2022) and "O Retorno da Macabra Biblioteca do Dr. Lucchetti" (2026). His stage productions have earned several State Theatre Awards and toured throughout Brazil. "Morgue Story" has been screened at over 30 international film festivals and has received numerous national and international awards.
