She graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, in Arecibo, with a Bachelor's Degree in Tele-Radial Communication; and from Universidad Carlos III, Madrid, Spain, with a Master's Degree in Film and Television Screenwriting. She is a university professor of directing and writing.
